Steven Patchel, Organist and Choir Director

Steven Patchel is originally from Kennett Square, Pennsylvania and has led the music program at ICH since 2011. As conductor, he has presented choral music of Bach, Fauré, Vivaldi, Rutter, and Mendelssohn both in liturgy and in concert. As organist, he has performed organ recitals in the U.S. and abroad including Boston’s Trinity Church, Harvard’s Busch Hall Museum, Princeton University Chapel, Saint Thomas Church, New York, Kelvingrove Art Museum, Glasgow, and St. Paul’s Cathedral, London.

Steven is also a piano and organ teacher who enjoys guiding musicians of all ages. He received degrees from the Oberlin College Conservatory, and the New England Conservatory, studying organ with David Boe, Garth Peacock, Ray Urwin and William Porter; harpsichord with Lisa Goode Crawford; and choral conducting with Daniel Moe and Donald Teeters. Having studied graphic design at the Massachusetts College of Art, he has also done work in marketing and graphic design. He is pleased to continue the tradition of excellent music at Immanuel in his roles as organist, teacher, and choral director.

Guest Instrumental Ensembles

For each of the church’s major feast days, we welcome professional guest instrumentalists who enliven our worship and accompany the singing of choir and congregation. Christmas Eve –  String quartet Easter –  Brass quartet and timpani Pentecost –  Jazz trio

Immanuel hosts outside performing groups who rehearse, present concerts, and/or make recordings in the welcoming acoustics of our church.

The Highlands Chamber Players

The Highlands Chamber Players

The Highlands Chamber Players is a group of parishioners
and musical friends of the parish who present two concerts
each year. They play a varied repertoire from ancient to modern
styles. Chamber instruments include flute, cello, clarinet, harp,
piano, and harpsichord.
