Immanuel Church Highlands in Wilmington, Delaware is a member of the Episcopal Church in Delaware. Our diocese was established in 1785, and is one the oldest dioceses in the country. Many of our colonial era parishes thrive to this day. Delaware is known as “The First State” and is also called “The Small Wonder” because it is the second smallest state in our country. We, and the other parishes of this diocese, value our close relationship with the bishop and mission support staff. The parish of Immanuel Church Highlands strongly supports the diocesan-wide initiative of Invite Welcome Connect.

Our church is a city parish located in the Highlands, a leafy Wilmington neighborhood with family and pet-friendly sidewalks, and easy access to nearby parks, playgrounds and public transportation. We are walking distance from the vibrant neighborhood of Trolley Square, a center for dining, shopping and services. Downtown Wilmington is five minutes from Immanuel, and ten minutes from the beautiful rolling hills of “chateau country”, Winterthur Museum and Gardens, Brandywine Creek State Park, and much more. Wilmington is part of Northern New Castle County, which offers a variety of private, public, and charter school options. Housing ranges from apartments, town homes, and single family homes to the beautiful historic homes in our neighborhood. We seek a full-time rector. Our new priest will Welcome newcomers as Jesus would, and help Connect prospective members with the people and ministries of our parish. We want a spiritual leader who can apply his/her administrative skills, will recognize the God-given gifts of our lay persons, and encourage us to assume and carry out leadership opportunities that help us grow. We are looking for a priest who will help us balance our parish needs with the needs beyond our church walls.
